At Newark Catholic High School, we believe education is about so much more than what happens in the classroom. Rooted in faith and guided by a caring community, we strive to create an environment where students grow in their relationship in faith, deepen their knowledge, and develop the confidence to use their unique gifts in service to others.
Here, students are known, respected, and challenged. They are encouraged to pursue excellence, embrace leadership opportunities, and build meaningful relationships that last a lifetime. Through faith, academics, service, athletics, and extracurricular activities, students learn the importance of compassion, integrity, and living with purpose.
For generations, Newark Catholic has been more than a school—it has been a family. A place where students are supported, inspired, and prepared not only for college and careers, but for a life of faith, service, and impact. Our mission is to help each student recognize their potential and empower them to make a difference in their communities and the world around them.
Newark Catholic High School has evolved in the ever-changing landscape of Catholic education, but one thing that remains consistent is graduating faith-filled students who stand out. In an effort to provide transparency and commitment to long-term academic excellence and student success, a 5-year strategic plan has been established to provide a clear roadmap that aligns the school's visions with community expectations.
For students and school alike, this strategic process involves discerning what assets and gifts have been entrusted, developing them as fully and faithfully as possible, then applying those enhanced capabilities in service of the world around us. The plan is meant to reflect intended accomplishments and work by Newark Catholic High School within pillars of the next several years all the while keeping in line with benchmarks for efficiency and effectiveness.
Many committees analyzed the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and challenges of NCHS. After much conversation and revisions, a fluid document with actionable goals was created. The results will be reflected in annual reporting following the end of each academic year. We are proud to share the State of the School from the 2025-2026 school year.
Founded In 1958
Newark Catholic High School has served generations of students in Licking County by providing a faith-filled education rooted in the Catholic tradition. Established through the vision and dedication of local Catholic families, clergy, and the Dominican Sisters, Newark Catholic has grown from a small community school into a respected college-preparatory high school known for academic excellence, faith formation, service, and championship traditions.
While the school has evolved over the decades, its mission remains unchanged: to help students grow in their Catholic faith, expand their knowledge, and use their given talents in service to others. Today, Newark Catholic continues to honor its rich heritage while preparing students to lead with faith, purpose, and integrity in an ever-changing world.
Our Catholic School: The Diocese of Columbus
With strong academics, service, and care, our students grow as children of God.
Our Catholic Schools are called to serve the Catholic community through the shared ministry of education—embracing mission, academic excellence, leadership, governance, financial stewardship, and advocacy—so that we may form disciples who fully live the message of Jesus Christ.
Ohio Catholic Schools are faith-centered learning communities across the state of Ohio, dedicated to nurturing the whole child—spiritually, academically, and socially. Rooted in the Catholic tradition, these schools emphasize strong academics, moral development, and service to others. They are accredited through the Ohio Catholic School Accrediting Association (OCSAA), whose standards are recognized as comparable to the Ohio Department of Education’s Operating Standards, ensuring both faith formation and academic excellence. Together, Ohio Catholic Schools prepare students to live out their faith, achieve at high levels, and contribute meaningfully to society.
Ohio Catholic School Accrediting Association
Setting the Standards for Catholic Education in Ohio.
In 1994, the Bishops of Ohio formed the Ohio Catholic School Accrediting Association (OCSAA). The OCSAA is a collaborative undertaking of the Catholic dioceses in Ohio and is governed by the Superintendents of Schools who serve as the OCSAA Commission. The purpose of the OCSAA is to strengthen Catholic school identity and mission and engage Catholic schools in the ongoing improvement of student learning.
The Ohio Catholic School Accrediting Association (OCSAA) exists to strengthen the Catholic identity and mission of schools while ensuring the ongoing improvement of student performance. Accreditation requires schools to demonstrate evidence of meeting OCSAA Standards, which the State Board of Education recognizes as comparable to the Ohio Department of Education’s Operating Standards for Ohio’s Schools. Through this process, new Catholic schools may apply for a state charter, and existing schools can maintain theirs.
At the heart of the OCSAA process is a commitment to continuous improvement. As an OCSAA member, Newark Catholic High School engages in ongoing strategic planning to provide a high-performing learning environment where students are firmly rooted in their faith and excel academically.
Newark Catholic High School is fully accredited by the OCSAA and holds a charter from the State of Ohio to operate.
